Ray and Marlene Gavin of Gaines were named the 2003 Outstanding Purebred Producers by the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association at the recent Michigan Shepherd's Weekend. The Gavin's have a flock of 70 Romney ewes and have been in the business for 22 years. Ray is a past president of the American Romney Breeders Association, and the Gavin's flock has a national reputation. They focus on raising top quality replacement rams and ewes for purebred and commercial producers and for 4-H projects.
